Testing The Real Texas

SO... I had a chance to play +Calvin French's The Real Texas yesterday!

If you know my indie brother or have played his games before, you KNOW what you're in for :) If you don't, let me tell you: the REAL gem about this game is how well Calvin's very unique, superbly bizarre sense of humor and style come across.

I hope he gets the attention he requires to make The Real Texas a success - this is definitively an effort that deserves recognition! http://therealtexasgame.com/

PEGJAM 2011

Pegjam-banner

I was lucky to attend another great event hosted by the always courteous and notoriously talented Bit Collective. PEGJAM 2.0 was a scorching success: great prototypes were made, the Mighty Winnitron 1000 was in attendance and Winnipeg was SO HOT we collectively lost enough sweat to fill an olympic-sized pool with it. I got to travel with The Real Texan, chilled with old pals, met new indies and worked on KRUNCH's bosses. Check out some screenshots and photos from the event:

KRUNCH is up for Sponsorship!

How time flies! KRUNCH is almost ready for consumption and is now seeking sponsorship on FlashGameLicense.com. What was meant to be a little 15-level prototype, has turned into a challenging arcade game featuring 100 claustrophobia-inducing levels filled with traps, obstacles and a few not so friendly hosts :) On the way, we released an exclusive versus mode for the Winnitron 1000, enlisted music wizard Rich Vreeland aka Disasterpeace and got previewed by the fine folks at IndieGames.com. We are very proud of KRUNCH and can hardly wait to share it with everyone! I leave you with a first glance at The Lady - you'll meet her halfway KRUNCH!

WINNITRON JAM here we come!

Presenting the brainchild of Alec Holowka, Marlon Wiebe, Noel Berry and Jeff LindsayTHE WINNITRON 1000 - an arcade machine built for the sole purpose of showcasing indie game developers! It is an interactive, remotely updatable, whole lot of awesome located in Winnipeg, Canada.

Also a great excuse to visit Manitoba and jam with other game makers! Dirk Rugged and I plan to wrap one of our games beforehand and polish it on site. Can't wait to play Klaustrum or Attack of the Jartos on an arcade machine. I guess it's time to dust-off the X-Arcade for something other that schooling Dirk Rugged on every fighting game ever made... that's right.

KLAUSTRUM - a game about walls closing in

I finally wrapped my Mini Ludum Dare 21 game! I was about a two days behind deadline but happy with the result. GreaseMonkey whipped the music in less than an hour and DirkRugged helped with the levels.

Klaustrum is a game about the fear of having no escape and being closed in. We are planning to flesh out more levels, improve gameplay, polish graphics, and use it as our entry for PoV’s October Challenge. Please have a run at it and let us know what you think: http://legrudgerugged.com/klaustrum/

Orcajam 2010, Toxic Island, Victoria and Friends

Back from Orcajam 2010! Andy Moore + Fieran Emerald hosted a well organized, 48-hour blast of indie game development goodness - an awesome time overall. We made new friends and learned a whole lot about making games.

DirkRugged and I managed to start a little game called Toxic Island which we hope to wrap/release over the next couple of weeks - for now, take a look below and comment if you feel the need :)

Victoria, BC is beautiful - seriously considering moving there... so much character, fantastic food, good wines, better beer, even better stress-less energy.

Awesome in theory Apple - Where are the games?

I'm not sure why Apple would launch Game Center today with no GC-compatible games on the App Store. It just seems like a wasted opportunity - specially considering Windows Phone 7 is scheduled to be released this October. Oh well.

UPDATE: since this morning's launch, the following games now sport Game Center support:

Posters from the 67th Venice Film Festival

I think it's awesome that a "fake" Rodriguez trailer becomes a movie and it's even cooler that Danny Trejo gets to headline it! Check out more posters from the festival: http://legr.me/cTV7aK.
